The difference between the two is that the sports cards were more focused on dads having a shared interest (sports) with their son. The first ad contains a thorough questionnaire which will provide super valuable information to understand their audience better, what they should sell, how they should sell it etc. Since it’s pitched as a “free” gift, asking to fill out a questionnaire seems acceptable and represents the power of reciprocity in action. The second ad’s headline & image is focused almost exclusively on the joy of a father buying a present his son loves. The headline sounds like what a kids would say to others after he got a cool gift from his dad.
