the founder of Mixergy, decided to implement an opt-in strategy that was very unique at the time. Instead of presenting a pop-up on entry, he decided to make a squeeze-style page that only showed on a user's first visit. Upon arrival, a cookie is placed in the first-time visitor's browser so the next time they visit, they'll be taken to the site's main homepage. Today, this type of page is known as a "welcome gate". Below, we've included the current welcome gate you see today as well as one of his first iterations from 2011.
