from a special club or membership, but it's likely the only time you'll see a college put a velvet rope in their ad & mention that you likely won't get in. I'd love to meet the people behind this campaign because I couldn't imagine them not laughing as they created these, but they may indeed have the last laugh as these ads have run consistently since 2012. You may have even seen them before. They're all over the web. Obviously, they took a big risk because they're pretty much only advertising the small chances of getting in & leaving their reputation open for big-time criticism (I found several others online who voiced their disgusted opinions). Personally, I would be turned off, BUT I'd definitely be interested & there's something to say about that. Versus another boring college ad, UNC strives to be interesting which is smarter than the general public will admit.
